SPC was formed in October 1967 and has been presenting a pantomime every January since 1969, at the Town Hall Theatre, Stourbridge – “Aladdin” in January 2008 was our 40th Anniversary production. It is a limited company (The Stourbridge Pantomime Company Limited) and a registered charity and has raised many thousands of pounds for children’s charities over the years.
SPC has been a member of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association since the company was formed and is a member of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley Arts Council.
The Company presently has approximately 160 members consisting of Adult, Junior, Student and our unique Family membership which enables under fourteen’s to join with a parent or guardian.
We present eleven performances of each pantomime starting with a Saturday matinee and including further matinees on Sunday, Thursday and the following Saturday and were the first organisation to perform at Stourbridge Town Hall on a Sunday. We are pleased to welcome parties of disabled and disadvantaged youngsters and have on several occasions provided a signed performance for the deaf.
For more than twenty years we have had a professional director/choreographer in the person of Mike Capri and a professional Musical Director, now Barry Hipkiss. Each year we go from strength to strength thanks to the hard work and dedication of a very strong cast and production team who put the show together in a very short time.
We have won awards over the years and these include “Entertainer of the Year” from the Birmingham Evening Mail. We have a social events programme and all members receive a regular “Pantonews” newsletter.
